The News So Far...

The death toll in Haiti is now over 2,200 after the devastating earthquake that struck on Saturday 14th August. Every Haitian is being impacted by the harsh realities the country is currently facing. Frontier Projects Love Community suburb of Carrefour and Bouvier School mountain region were both areas that were fortunate to be far from the epicenter, but our hearts were broken as we learnt the news of the families in Cavaillion - where we have purchased Land to start our Community Farm. Nearly all lost their homes - with everything they possessed inside.  Most are still too terrified to try and retrieve any belongings, many are just simply facing the reality of starting again.

And our core team from our Haitian NGO partner - Light for Living International Ministries (LIFLIM) - were all in there in Cavaillion when the earthquake hit. And then it was followed by a tropical storm!

​All are teams, families and children are safe and we are so grateful and thankful! But it was truly shocking for our precious leader Pastor Reggie and his wife Johanne, children and many others from LIFLIM to go through this experience all over again. The memories of the 2010 earthquake were still with them. Also visiting with them at the time was Robin Brown, one of our USA Frontier Projects team-members and Robin helped in sending the first messages through that all were safe-  in shock, but safe - praise God!

Our Relief Efforts underway...

Our official response to the earthquake began with reaching out to Pastor Reggie who immediately went into consultation with the local leaders from the Cavaillion community. It was important to understand the situation and context before jumping into action. We then had a long online meeting with Pastor Reggie where we decided the next step in our response would be two-fold: 

1) Reach out through emails and social media platforms to raise funds directly to provide immediate critical aid (food, water, shelter and hygienic supplies) to families in great need in Cavaillion (Pastor Reggie's hometown - and the area directly around our farmland) through a Community Kitchen and Outreach Centre. Providing funds will also help Pastor Reggie and his team in Cavaillion to best plan their next steps. 

2) In the long term - using ongoing raised funds to partner with LIFLIM  to provide FOOD PACKS and SHELTER SUPPLIES to families so that they can begin to restore and rebuild their lives and homes.

Meet Tiboubou.
This soon-to be father lost his entire home and everything in it. His wife who is almost 9 months pregnant, had just left the home when the earthquake struck! Tiboubou is so grateful that they all are alive. All funds sent will go to help Tiboubou's family and so many more!
