In the four years since the devastating earthquake in Haiti took the lives of over 300,000 and left over 1 million homeless, our small team have forged precious and strong links with our partners - Light For Living International Ministries in Port-au-Prince - determined to make a difference for children and families who lost so much. In 2012 our team from Frontier Projects started building a school in Bouvier that was nearly destroyed in the 2010 quake. This building project was continued in 2013 with our Journey of Compassion in March. Sponsorship of the students, teachers and orphans is ongoing.
Another Frontier Projects team again trekked the many hours to the school in April 2014; bringing building and teaching supplies and expertise. We also brought stationary gifts donated to the teachers by students at Coffs harbour Senior College. All gifts and equipment was carried up by men, women and children from Bouvier, and by hired donkey-teams. Donated building supplies and tools have meant that the local builders have been trained as they work with our team from Coffs Harbour, and equipped for future business.
The 2014 Journey of Hope saw the building of a teacher's apartment and small clinic added as an upper storey to the school. Finishing off this project is on-going via the carpenters/builders and volunteers that we have helped train and equip.
These ongoing projects bring hope and real change to children who have so little. We could not be accomplishing all we have been able to, without the partnership of so many generous child sponsors and donors! THANK YOU!!
