Venord grew up in the mountainside community of Bouvier - in Carrefour, Haiti. Venord was one of the original four 'teachers' with no training, who were volunteering to teach the children of Bouvier in a derelict building on the mountainside that's a 10 hour hike west of Port au Prince. They were teaching the children there in Bouvier, to keep them safe.
Many children had disappeared over the years as they trekked to get to schools in the city. Those missing were rarely ever seen again - presumed trafficked.
A school in their own community meant everything to the children and their families. Venord and three others have been faithful for years to the children and families of Bouvier. We are in the process of helping him complete his university studies.
